WDGC Donates to the Bellingham Food Bank
The Whatcom Disc Golf Club, donated $1081.74 to the Bellingham Food Bank last month.
The club, which oversees the disc golf courses in Whatcom County, had scheduled the Mossy Roc Ice Bowl Tournament at the Sudden Valley Mossy Roc Disc Golf Park in February. The tournament was a fundraiser for the Bellingham Food Bank. A portion of the proceeds along with food brought the day of the tournament by the players would have been donated.
According to Ryan Klassen, WDGC president, the tournament was postponed and the club decided to donate all the proceeds.
“With the Covid 19 outbreak we have seen many challenges in our community and the Food Bank is no exception. This is a great time to kick in and help them out,” said Ryan.
The Tournament directors, Al Schwartz and Jackson Freel, would like to thank everyone who contributed to the event: LJ’s Handyman Service, Brandon Essy Construction, Jackson Freel, Tim Kamphouse, William Rink, Willy, Al Schwartz, Gordon Brown, and all the players who registered.
As soon as the WDGC gets a clearer picture of when the tournament can be rescheduled, it will be announced on the club’s website, www.whatcomdisc.com and Facebook page, Whatcom Disc. The WDGC will again be raising additional money and taking food donations for the Bellingham Food Bank.
The WDGC encourages everyone to stay home and stay healthy. We will get through this together and hear chains ringing again.
